Christian Camping International

Declaration d’Ovronnaz

We,

  • Anne-Christine Bataillard, President of Foundation Grain de Ble (FGB) International;
  • Evelyne Richir, member of the council of FGB International;
  • Vera Izotova, President of FGB Russia;
  • Alexander Kharitonov, President of Christian Camping International/Russia (Serving the CIS and Baltics);
  • Rudi Dueck, Executive Director of Christliche Freizeiten International, member of the Board of Trustees of CCI/Russia;

have met in Chalet Bergamote, Ovronnaz, Canton de Valais, Suisse, on April 10-12, 2001, and upon joint meditation over the Holy Scripture (namely, Matt. 20:20-28; Acts 20:17-35; 1 Cor. 3:3-9), prayer, consultation and fellowship agreed on the following:

1. That the overall goals and purposes of CCIR and FGB are identical and consist in forwarding the Kingdom of God through the camping ministry to the new generation of the former Soviet Union. However, the structures of the two organizations are different: FGB is a charitable foundation, whereas CCIR is an association of Christian camps. Our means are also different but can be complimentary.

  • CCIR is focused on Christian camping; FGB is as well, but is also heavily involved in follow-up in the form of clubs and the "Hi Kids" phone ministry.
  • FGB is targeting younger kids (ages 6-13) while CCIR covers other age groups as well.
  • FGB offers legal and financial support to the camps, allowing them to register as a branch of the Foundation and consulting them in the issues of financial and taxation accountability.
  • Both FGB and CCIR are interested in training leaders and are both committed to multiplication of national teachers.
  • Both FGB and CCIR are involved in resource development and publication.
  • Both FGB and CCIR are interdenominational ministries whose evangelical statement of faith is based on the Holy Scripture.
  • Both FGB and CCIR are open to networking with other evangelical ministries that have the same concerns and agenda.
  • Both FGB and CCIR have officially operated since 1993.

2. That FGB is open to camps that are part of the foundation (both financially and organizationally) joining CCIR as members and enjoying CCIR membership benefits. CCIR will respect the link between these camps and the FGB and will mention it in its official papers.

3. That CCIR will inform its members on FGB programs and services and refer them to FGB for proper application process.

4. That CCIR and FGB, who work according to their constitutions and state requirements, strongly encourage their members and collaborators to follow the principles of financial and legal responsibility in their ministry.

5. That CCIR and FGB will make their resources (publications, programs, resource people, etc.) available to each other’s members and collaborators. General policies and conditions will apply while making use of these resources.

6. That FGB and CCIR will communicate their training schedules to each other’s members and collaborators and encourage them to participate.

7. That FGB and CCIR will coordinate their training schedules with the following goals in mind:

  • avoid overlapping in time;
  • cover the geographical areas that need training the most;
  • provide the best locations of the events for students;
  • make the best use of the Lord’s money;
  • reduce time required for travel and training from camping leaders as much as possible in order to make them free for the ministry.

8. That if a FGB participant camp wants to receive benefits of CCIR programs and training events, they need to follow general policies and requirements of CCIR; if a CCIR member camp wants to receive benefits of FGB programs and training events, they need to follow general policies and requirements of FGB.

9. That CCIR and FGB will follow their own styles and formats of training and study each other's ones and will continue consultations regarding training.

10. That CCIR and FGB main offices will keep each other informed on programs, news and plans and will work in transparency regarding members and collaborators we both work with.

We thank our Lord Jesus Christ for His leadership and give Him all the glory for what has been and will be achieved through our ministries.
