Adventure Challenge School

In November 2002 CCI/Russia launched a new program called Adventure Challenge School (ACS). The subject of the ACS is how to construct a low & high elements ropes course and use it effectively and safely in camp and church ministry to meet spiritual goals. It will include a certification course with a training manual. HoneyRock Camp (Wisconsin, USA) is assisting the project.

Statistics from past ACS events

The project is long-term and has several phases. They are as follows:

  • To construct a model training facility on Warning Bell Camp’s property in Istra near Moscow (November 2002 − April 2003; completed);
  • To create and publish the training manual for ACS instructors (work started in December 2002);
  • To train and certify indigenous instructors (started in May 2003);
  • To incorporate ACS training into the CCI/Russia slate of courses offered. A course, or several courses, then is taught in 2005 and beyond, led by capable indigenous instructors who have been certified through the Adventure Challenge School.

The first Adventure Challenge School instructors training was run during CCI/Russia Advanced Staff Training Workshop on May 13-19, 2003 at Warning Bell Camp, Moscow. 14 students representing 13 camps from 5 countries (Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Belarus and Central Asia) were trained and went home to train others at 2003 summer camps and other events.
